PAGASA: Tail-end of cold front to bring rains, thunderstorms on Sunday


The tail-end of a cold front will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley on Sunday, PAGASA said on Saturday.

In a 5 p.m. video advisory, weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said that Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

The weather bureau cautioned against possible flash floods or landslides in the affected areas during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, gale warnings were raised over Ilocos Norte Ilocos Sur, La Union, Isabela, Pangasinan, Batanes, Calayan, Northern Coast of Cagayan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Western Coast of Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

PAGASA advised against sea travel due to potentially rough sea conditions.

Quiel has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility and has weakened into a Severe Tropical Storm as of Saturday.

At 3 p.m., it was last estimated 145 kilometers north of Southern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 135 kph.
