By JOVILAND RITA,GMA News

State weather bureau PAGASA on Monday said the trough of Tropical Depression Ambo will bring scattered light to moderate with isolated heavy rains during thunderstorms over Mindanao.

“The raising of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal in any locality of the country remains less likely in the next 24 hours,” PAGASA said in an 11 a.m. bulletin.

Ambo slightly intensified with sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 70 kph, and is moving west slowly.

At 10 a.m., Ambo was located at 340 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Moderate to rough seas will be experienced on the eastern seaboards of Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental, PAGASA said.

“Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not venture out on these areas,” it added.

Tropical Depression Ambo may intensify into a tropical storm before its expected landfall on Thursday, PAGASA senior weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

Ambo is expected to make landfall in Bicol Region and move through Central Luzon, he said.

“Maaaring lumakas ito bago mag-landfall. Maaring maging tropical storm bago mag-landfall sa bansa,” Aurelio said.

“Kapag hindi po nagbago ang track nito, maari pong tumbukin ang Bicol Region,” he added. —KG, GMA News
