Several provinces to experience stormy weather due to Typhoon Ambo

Samar provinces, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, and Camarines Sur will have stormy weather brought about by Typhoon Ambo with the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy with at times heavy rains, PAGASA reported in its 4 a.m. forecast on Thursday.

Camarines norte, Biliran, and Leyte will have rains with gusty winds also due to the typhoon. The weather bureau warns that flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Caraga, Marinduque, Romblon,Southern Quezon, and the rest of Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to Ambo with the possibility that flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA reported that as of 3 a.m. on Thursday, the eye of Typhoon Ambo [International name: VONGFONG] was estimated at 250 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar.

Typhoon Ambo will be packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 180 km/h and moving towards the west at 15 km/h.

The wind speed forecast for the eastern section of Southern Luzon and Visayas is strong to gale and moving in the northeast to northwest direction while coastal waters will be rough to high.

The rest of Luzon have a wind forecast of moderate to strong moving in the east to northeast direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

For the rest of the country, the wind speed forecast is light to moderate and moving in the northwest to southwest direction with slight to moderate coastal waters. -- BAP, GMA News
