ITCZ to bring rains, thunderstorms over 5 areas

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga Peninsula, PAGASA said Saturday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency warned affected residents of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to the ITCZ, Easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA said flash floods and landslides are also possible.

The synoptic station at the Science Garden, Quezon City recorded a minimum temperature of 25.3°C at 6 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 34.6°C at 1 p.m.

PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Batangas and Quezon within the next two hours.

In its 4:26 p.m. advisory, the weather agency said that the same conditions are being experienced in Carrangian, Nueva Ecija which may persist within two hours and affect nearby areas.

Affected residents are advised to take precautionary measures against flash floods and landslides. -MDM, GMA News
