Ulysses to bring stormy weather over Metro Manila, other parts of Luzon

Typhoon Ulysses is expected to bring stormy weather over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and Bicol Regions, as well as the provinces of La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Mindoro, Romblon, and Marinduque, according to PAGASA.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency warned affected residents of possible flash floods or landslides due to heavy to, at times, intense rains as well as moderate to heavy damage to structures and vegetation due to strong winds.

Ulysses may also bring rains with gusty winds over Isabela, the Samar Provinces, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Region.

PAGASA said flooding, landslides, and damage to structures and vegetation are also possible.

Meanwhile, the trough of Ulysses and the tail end of a cold front may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the rest of Visayas and Luzon.

According to the weather agency, moderate to, at times, heavy rains may cause flash floods and landslides.

Ulysses was last estimated 60 kilometers east northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph.

It is moving west at 20 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals have been raised over various areas in the country due to the typhoon.  The next severe weather bulletin on Ulysses will be issued at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains may prevail over Mindanao due to localized thunderstorms. -MDM, GMA News
