Dante makes landfall over Eastern Samar

Tropical Storm Dante made landfall in the vicinity of Eastern Samar 's Sulat town at around 8:30 p.m., PAGASA announced on Twitter.

After making landfall PAGASA had earlier projected that Dante would traverse over the eastern portion of Northern Samar and emerge over the coastal waters of Northern Samar before making a second landfall over Sorsogon or Rapu Rapu Island.

As of 7 p.m., Dante had maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

It was moving northwestward at 30 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 had been raised over:

•    The southern portion of Quezon (Calauag, Tagkawayan, Guinayangan, Lopez, Buenavista, Catanauan, San Narciso, Mulanay, San Andres, San Francisco, General Luna, Gumaca, Macalelon, Pitogo, Quezon)
•    Catanduanes
•    Camarines Norte
•    Camarines Sur
•    Masbate including Ticao and Burias Island
•    Albay
•    Sorsogon
•    Eastern Samar
•    Samar
•    Northern Samar
•    Biliran
•    The northeastern portion of Leyte (Carigara, Barugo, San Miguel, Babatngon, Tacloban City, Alangalang, Tunga, Santa Fe, Palo)
