LPA spotted near Eastern Samar —PAGASA

State weather bureau PAGASA on Monday spotted a low pressure area (LPA) 350 kilometers east southeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

In its 24-hour forecast, PAGASA said the LPA, which was located at 3 p.m., is embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Visayas and Mindanao.

PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Eastern Visayas and Surigao provinces due to the ITCZ.

PAGASA advised affected residents to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered moderate to, at times, heavy rains.

Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Palawan, and Mindoro provinces will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

Flash floods or landslides are also possible due to scattered moderate to, at times, heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the western section of Luzon will have moderate winds and moderate coastal water conditions, while the rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate waters.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
