Scattered rains expected over NCR, parts of Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao due to LPA

The National Capital Region and parts of Luzon, as well as Visayas and Mindanao will have scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Sunday due to a low pressure area (LPA), PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.

The other affected areas in Luzon are Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and the Bicol Region.

These areas will have cloudy skies, and flash floods or landslides may occur during times of moderate or heavy rains.

At 3 a.m., one LPA was located at 815 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

Another LPA was estimated to be at 120 km east of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may possibly occur during severe thunderstorms.

Coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.

Sunrise was at 5:32 a.m. while sunset will be at 6:30 p.m. —KG, GMA News
