Tropical storm enters Philippine Area of Responsibility, now named Huaning

A tropical storm located north northwest of Itbayat, Batanes entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday morning and was named Huaning, PAGASA said.

The storm, known internationally as Lupit, entered PAR at 5 a.m.

PAGASA said it will issue tropical cyclone bulletins starting at 11 a.m.

At 3 a.m., when it was still outside PAR, Tropical Storm Lupit had maximum sustained winds at 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It was moving slowly in the east northeast direction. —KG, GMA News
