Isang continues northwestward move over Philippine Sea

Tropical Depression Isang continues northwestward movement over the Philippine Sea, PAGASA said Thursday night.

In its 11 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the weather bureau said the center of Isang was located 1,160 kilometers east of Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 55 kph, and central pressure of 1006 hPa, moving northwestward at 25 kph.

The weather agency said Isang will not likely directly affect the weather condition and bring heavy rainfall over the country.

Raising tropical cyclone wind signals over any land area also remains unlikely. Isang's passage will not enhance the southwest monsoon, PAGASA said.

PAGASA added that Isang will also not cause sea conditions to change within the coastal waters of the country.

Further, Isang will remain far from Philippine landmass and is forecasted to move northwestward until Friday, then move in the north northwest direction on Saturday.

Isang is likely to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday evening or Sunday morning. -- BAP, GMA News
