Southwest Monsoon to bring scattered rains over Western Visayas, 6 other areas


The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is affecting the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao on Monday and will bring scattered rains over Western Visayas and six other areas, PAGASA said.

Cloudy skies, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the monsoon will be experienced in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, aside from Western Visayas.

Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides.

Tropical Storm Omais (formerly called Isang when it was still inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at PAR) was located at 3 a.m. at 785 km north northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kph, gustiness of up to 90 kph, and moving north northwestward at 25 kph. Isang exited PAR at 1:10 p.m. on Sunday.

Coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.
