Easterlies to bring isolated rainshowers over Luzon

Warm winds from the Pacific Ocean called the easterlies are affecting Luzon, PAGASA announced Friday afternoon.

In its 24-hour forecast, the state weather agency said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Based on the 11 a.m. tropical cyclone advisory, a severe tropical storm called Mindulle was estimated outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 1,905 kilometers east of Southern Luzon.

It is moving west-northwestward at 20 kph with maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph.

Mindulle is expected to enter PAR on Sunday or Monday, and will then be called Lannie.—AOL, GMA News
