LPA to cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao

A low pressure area (LPA) located east of Surigao del Sur will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Monday over Visayas and Mindanao, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.

These areas may also have flash floods or landslides during times of moderate to heavy rains.

At 3 a.m. Monday, the LPA was located at 330 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, PAGASA estimated.

"Mababa ang tsansa na maging isang bagyo ang low pressure area," GMA resident meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz said in a report on Unang Balita.

(The chance of the LPA of becoming a tropical depression is low.)

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is affecting the western section of Luzon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may result during severe thunderstorms.

Coastal waters will be moderate in the seaboards in the western section of Luzon and Visayas.

The seas will be slight to moderate in the rest of Luzon and Visayas, as well as Mindanao.
