LPA spotted east of Visayas

A low pressure area (LPA) was spotted 950 kilometers east northeast of Mindanao or 995 kilometers east of eastern Visayas as of 3 p.m., PAGASA said.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau said that an Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) was embedded in the LPA and will be affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, while the extreme Northern Luzon will be under the influence of Northeast Monsoon (Amihan).

Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with rains will prevail over Batanes due to the Amihan.

On the other hand, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line.

Flash floods or landslides may occur to moderate to at times heavy rains, PAGASA said.

Further, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Affected residents were advised to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for northern Luzon is moderate to strong, while coastal water conditions will be moderate rough, with heights ranging from 2.1 meters to 4.5 meters.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate wind speeds and slight to moderate coastal water conditions, with waves ranging from 0.6 meters to 2.5 meters high.—Mel Matthew Doctor/LDF, GMA News
