By GMA News

The low pressure area off Eastern Visayas may develop into a tropical depression within 72 hours, weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the LPA was located 820 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas at 10 a.m.

This year, a total of 15 tropical cyclones have formed so far within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Meanwhile, the shear line and the Intertropical Convergence Zone are expected to bring light to intense heavy rains over some parts of the country.

Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains will be experienced over Aurora, Quezon, and Eastern Visayas.

Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, the rest of Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Central Visayas, Caraga, and Northern Mindanao.

“Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA said.

“The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property,” it added.  — Joviland Rita/VBL, GMA News
