LPA’s trough to bring rains over Palawan, Visayas, Mindanao

State weather bureau PAGASA on Tuesday said the trough of the low pressure area (LPA), which may develop into a tropical depression within 72 hours, will bring rains over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The LPA was sighted 815 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas at 3 p.m.

Moreover, the shear line is affecting Central Luzon, according to PAGASA’s 4 p.m. bulletin.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Mindoro provinces, Marinduque, and Romblon due to the shear line.

The Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy skies with rains caused by the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan).

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Further, the Ilocos Region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the Amihan.

The wind speed forecast for northern Luzon and the eastern sections of central and southern Luzon is moderate to strong, while coastal water conditions will be moderate to rough, with heights ranging from 2.1 meters to 4.5 meters.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate wind speeds and slight to moderate coastal water conditions, with waves ranging from 0.6 meters to 2.5 meters high.  — Mel Matthew Doctor/VBL, GMA News
