Northeast Monsoon to bring rains over Cagayan Valley, 11 other areas

The shear line and the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) continue to affect Luzon on Tuesday, and rains are expected in several areas, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.

Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Calabarzon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, and Capiz will have cloudy skies with rains due to the Northeast Monsoon affecting most of Luzon. Flash floods and landslides may result due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon and the trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA) located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). During times of moderate to heavy rains, flash floods or landslides may result.

The chances of the LPA entering the PAR is low.

Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and the rest of Western Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains due to the Northeast Monsoon.

Meamwhile, the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the LPA's trough and localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.

Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the seaboards of Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao, and slight to moderate in the rest of Mindanao.
