LPA, shear line to trigger rains across Philippines

The shear line and a low-pressure area (LPA) developing over the waters off General Santos City will spur rains across parts of the country on Tuesday.

Weather bureau PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, and Bicol Region due to the LPA and the shear line.

The northeast monsoon (Amihan) will cast cloudy skies with rains over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, CALABARZON, Oriental Mindoro, and Marinduque and will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains over the rest of Luzon.

The rest of the country, meanwhile, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA and the localized thunderstorms.

As of 3 p.m., PAGASA said the LPA was last seen 275 kilometers east of General Santos City.

Forecast winds in Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao will be light to strong with moderate to rough coastal waters while the rest of Mindanao will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate waters.

The maximum temperature was monitored at 2 p.m. at 27.6ºC while the minimum temperature was at 25.4ºC at 2 a.m.

Sunset will be at 5:31 p.m.—Sundy Locus/AOL, GMA Integrated News
