PAGASA: Shear line to bring rains over east Luzon, Visayas

The shear line or the convergence of the warm and cold winds will continue to spur scattered rain showers over the eastern sections of Luzon and Visayas on Friday.

In its 24-hour weather outlook issued at 4 p.m. on Thursday, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, and Visayas due to the shear line.

The weather system may bring possible flooding or landslides in the affected areas due to the accompanying moderate to heavy rains, it added.

The northeast monsoon (Amihan) may trigger cloudy skies with rains may prevail in Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains in the Ilocos Region.

Mindanao is expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorm.

PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant as flash floods and landslides are possible in the area during severe thunderstorms.

The weather bureau reported the low-pressure area it was monitoring was last spotted 410 kilometers west-northwest of Coron, Palawan at 3 p.m.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough waters are forecast over the country due to the weather systems, the weather bureau reported. —NB, GMA Integrated News
