Rains expected in parts of VisMin due to trough of LPA outside PAR

Moderate to heavy rains with possible flooding and landslides are expected in parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Monday due to the trough of a low pressure area (LPA), PAGASA announced Sunday evening,

In a weather advisory released 11 p.m., the state weather bureau said the trough of the LPA outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) will bring moderate to heavy rains over eastern Visayas, the Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Agusan del Norte.

Light to moderate, with at times heavy rains, are also expected over central Visayas, the Davao region, and the rest of Caraga.

“Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards…” the advisory read.

“The public and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (DRRMOs) concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property,” it added.

Just last week some 600,000 individuals across the country were affected by the rains and floods brought by the shear line, based on reports of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA Integrated News
