LPA to continue to bring rains over Visayas, Mindanao

Moderate to heavy rains are expected in some parts of the country due to the low pressure area (LPA) located east of Mindanao.

According to PAGASA's 4 p.m. weather forecast on Thursday, the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms over the Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and Negros Occidental.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast in Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Romblon, and the rest of Visayas.

Flooding or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains, the weather bureau warned.

The LPA was last seen 230 kilometers east-southeast of Butuan City or 130 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Quezon, and the rest of Mimaropa and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions will prevail in the country. —Sundy Locus/VBL, GMA Integrated News
