LPA, Amihan, shear line to bring rain showers across the country

A low pressure area (LPA) was spotted 175 km east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 245 km east of Butuan City, Agusan del Norte as of 3 p.m., PAGASA said Sunday.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau said Northeast Monsoon or Amihan will also be affecting the extreme northern Luzon.

Metro Manila, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Calabarzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA or shear line.

Batanes and Cagayan including Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with rains due to the Amihan.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains will prevail over Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley due to the Amihan.

On the other hand, the rest of the country will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA.

Affected residents were advised to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for Northern Luzon will be strong, while coastal water conditions will be rough, with heights ranging from 2.8 meters to 4.5 meters.

Moderate to strong wind speeds, with moderate to rough coastal waters will be experienced by the rest of Luzon and Visayas.

Moreover, Mindanao will have slight to moderate wind speed, while coastal water will be light to moderate. —LBG, GMA Integrated News
