Rain expected across the eastern Philippines, Luzon areas – PAGASA

A low-pressure area (LPA) trough, shear line, and the Amihan will bring rains over the eastern sections of the country and across areas of Luzon, PAGASA said Saturday.

In its 4 p.m. forecast, the state weather bureau said the Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Regions would experience cloudy conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of LPA.

The Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas would also experience similar conditions but this time due to a shear line.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative, and the CALABARZON Regions, as well as Aurora, the Mindoro Provinces, Marinduque, and Romblon, would experience cloudy conditions and rain due to the Amihan.

The rest of Luzon, however, will have partly cloudy to at times, cloudy skies with light rains due to Amihan but with no significant impact reported.

PAGASA warned that due to moderate to, at times heavy rains in these areas, flooding or landslides were possible.

The rest of the country would have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms could be expected.

The wind speed in Northern Luzon would be moderate to strong from northeast to east with coastal waters to be moderate to rough (2.5 to 4.0 meters).

The rest of Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao will have moderate to strong winds from the northeast. Coastal waters would be moderate to rough (1.2 to 4.0 meters).

Lastly, the rest of Mindanao will have light to moderate winds from the northeast. Coastal Waters will be slight to moderate (0.6 to 2.1 meters).
