Cagayan, Dagupan heat index hit 46°C —PAGASA

Two areas in North Luzon experienced a heat index of 46°C on Wednesday, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

The highest heat index was recorded in Aparri, Cagayan, and Dagupan, Pangasinan, a report on “24 Oras” said.

Meanwhile, Casiguran, Aurora experienced a 45°C heat index; 43°C in Catarman, Northern Samar; and 42°C in Sangley Point, Cavite, Davao City, and Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte.

Heat index is the measure of the temperature that a person feels, which is different from the actual air temperature. It is computed by factoring in the humidity as well as the air temperature.

PAGASA said the warm weather will continue to prevail over the country due to the easterlies or the humid air from the Pacific Ocean. —Sundy Locus/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
