PAGASA: Rains expected over parts of Philippines due to LPA, ITCZ

Rains may persist over a large swath of the country due to a low-pressure area off Puerto Princesa City, Palawan embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, state weather bureau PAGASA said Thursday.

PAGASA said the LPA and the ITCZ will spur cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in Palawan, Western Visayas, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar.

Meanwhile, it added that the easterlies and the localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods and landslides in the affected areas due to the expected rainfall.

It also said light to moderate winds will prevail over the country while the coastal water condition will be slight to moderate.

The sun will set at 6:14 p.m. It will rise Friday at 5:32 a.m., PAGASA said. — Sundy Locus/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
