PAGASA: 8 Visayas areas under Signal No. 4 as Tino heads to Cebu

Typhoon Tino continues to batter the Visayas, where Signal No. 4 remains hoisted over eight areas, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

In its 5 a.m. cyclone bulletin, it said Tino brings "life-threatening conditions" over Camotes Island and is now approaching Cebu.

The center of the eye of the typhoon was estimated over the coastal waters of San Francisco, Cebu.  It is moving westward at 25 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 205 km/h.

"Heavy rainfall, severe winds, and storm surge may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone," PAGASA said.

Tino has passed close over Camotes Islands and is forecast to traverse Visayas and northern Palawan until it emerges over the West Philippine Sea by the morning of November 5. It will then exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday evening or Thursday early morning.

"Due to interaction with the terrain, Tino may slightly weaken while crossing Visayas. However, Tino is expected to remain at typhoon category throughout its passage over the country," the weather bureau added.
