All Philippine airports will still be open with normal operations despite the recent clash in Marawi City, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Wednesday.

"All airports are open for normal operations," it said in an emailed statement.

According to the CAAP, all area managers have already advised Officer-in-Charge for Aviation and Airports Manuel Antonio "Skee" Tamayo that security measures are in place.

This comes after the recent clash in Marawi City which forced President Rodrigo Duterte to declare martial law in Mindanao on Tuesday.

For his part, Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade assured the public that all facilities and installations are safe and secure for the riding public.

"However, everyone is still encouraged to remain vigilant and take necessary safety precautions," the CAAP said. —KG, GMA News
