Cebu Pacific cancels Guam, Osaka flights due to bad weather, typhoon damage

By TED CORDERO, GMA News

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific said Tuesday it canceled flights to and from Guam as Typhoon Mangkhut traverses the Pacific and heads for northern Luzon.

In an advisory, Cebu Pacific said weather disturbances brought by Mangkhut compelled the carrier to cancel the following flights:

Typhoon Mangkhut, to be locally named Ompong, is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday, September 12. As such, this may disrupt some of the airline's flights in the next few days, Cebu Pacific said.

Meanwhile, the carrier said it canceled flights to and from Osaka scheduled on Thursday, September 13, as operations at the Kansai International Airport are currently suspended until further notice due to damage by Typhoon Jebi.

  • 5J 828: Manila - Osaka
  • 5J 827: Osaka - Manila

Passengers of the affected flights are notified to either rebook their trips within 30 days from the original date of departure, convert them into a Travel Fund for future use, or get a full refund.

"Affected passengers may rebook, reroute or refund their flight free-of-charge through the 'Manage Booking' section of the Cebu Pacific website (www.cebupacificair.com)," the carrier said. — MDM, GMA News
