Most flights still canceled on Wednesday even as Clark airport resumes operations

Most flights to and from the Clark International Airport on Wednesday will remain canceled, even as the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the gateway is set to resume operations this afternoon.

In an advisory, Philippine Airlines (PAL) said its flights to and from Clark on Wednesday, April 24, will remain canceled.

"PAL flights to and from Clark today, April 24, remain canceled," the flag carrier said in an advisory emailed to reporters.

"PAL is, however, operating a number of replacement flights between Manila and Busuanga (Coron), Manila and Basco (Batanes), and extra flights between Cebu and Busuanga, to cater to passengers affected by the Clark closure on key routes," it added, noting that flights to and from Clark will resume on Thursday, April 25.

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific, in a text message, also confirmed that its flights using the Clark International Airport will remain canceled as earlier announced.

Cebu Pacific, however, clarified that evening flights are scheduled to resume on Wednesday.

This comes even as the DOTr said the Clark International Airport is expected to resume operations at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

"Clark airport is business as usual, from counters to manifest to boarding pass," Clark International Airport Corporation President Jaime Melo was quoted as saying in a DOTr statement.

He then urged passengers to check with their flight status with their respective airline companies, as only four flights have been confirmed to use the airport on Wednesday. —Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/KBK, GMA News
