Bus trips to Southern Luzon, Bicol, Samar, Biliran canceled due to Tisoy

Bus trips to Southern Luzon, Bicol, Samar and Biliran from Araneta Center Bus Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City were canceled on Tuesday due to Typhoon Tisoy (international name: Kammuri), according to a report by Bam Alegre on GMA News' Unang Balita.

Tisoy made landfall in Gubat, Sorsogon about 11 p.m. on Monday. Its eyewall is expected to affect Cavite, Batangas and the northern portion of Mindoro provinces before noon on Tuesday.

Passengers were advised not to go anymore to the Araneta Center Bus Terminal on Tuesday due to the cancellation of trips to Southern Luzon, Bicol, Samar and Biliran.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Monday issued an advisory to public utility bus operators and drivers for them not to travel to the areas affected by Tisoy. This is to ensure the safety of passengers, drivers, and operators, the LTFRB added.

The LTFRB also conducted an inspection to check on the status of affected passengers.

At least 100 passengers were stranded at the Araneta Center Bus Terminal, according to management.

Some of them did not know that their trips were canceled.

Others decided to stay in the terminal to await the resumption of bus trips. —KG, GMA News
