EDSA U-turn slots in Bagong Barrio, Gen. Malvar in Caloocan closed

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority pushed through with its plan to close two U-turn slots on EDSA on Monday morning — one near General Malvar Street and another one in Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City, according to a report by Allan Gatus on Dobol B sa News TV.

The said U-turn slots were first announced to be closed on Dec. 7, 2020, then this was moved to January 4 to help ease holiday traffic.

The scheduled closure was moved a third time to Jan. 11.

The MMDA said the closure of the U-turn slots on EDSA is part of the agency's efforts to make commute time faster for those using the EDSA Carousel Buses.

Motorists may still use the U-turn slots on A. De Jesus and Gen. Tinio on EDSA.

They may also use the Monumento Circle if going from northbound to southbound, or the Cloverleaf Interchange if going from southbound to northbound.

The General Malvar and Bagong Barrio U-turn slots are the 8th and 9th U-turn slots closed by MMDA for the EDSA Busway. —KG, GMA News
