DepEd Pampanga cancels classes in public schools on Jan. 17-21, 2022

The Department of Education Schools Division Office (DepEd SDO) in Pampanga on Saturday announced the cancellation of classes in all levels in public schools in the province from January 17 to 21, 2022.

The DepEd SDO on Twitter said the move was made "to allow for health break and recuperation of our teachers and learners amid the surge of flu and Covid-19."

"Private schools, in consultation with their respective parents' associations, may exercise their own direction relative to the suspension of classes and K to 12 learning activities when Covid-19 risks in their respective areas are high," it added.

Other local government units have earlier declared class cancellations for a health break amid the surge in COVID-19 cases. Among these LGUs are Parañaque CitySan Juan City

The Philippines on Friday logged 37,207 new COVID-19 cases, the highest daily tally since the start of pandemic, increasing the nationwide count to 3,129,512. —KG, GMA News
