Ai Ai delas Alas wins best female actor award in New York

Kapuso actress Ai Ai delas Alas has won a best female actor award in 7th Queens World Film Festival in New York on Sunday night (Monday in Manila).

A radio dzBB report said Delas Alas won the acting award for her performance in the indie film Area.

Delas Alas was among the four nominees for the Best Female Actor Narrative Feature category.

The other nominees were Karin Hanczewsk for Lotte, Amy Redford for Hate Crime and Dorothea Hagena in Mann Im Spagat - Pace, Cowboy, Pace.

Louie Ignacio, meanwhile, is nominated for Best Director Narrative Feature, for the indie film Area.

The other nominees for the category are Joseph Matarrese for Searching for Fortune, Julius Schultheiß for Lotte, Pedro Oswald Padilha for Tarde en el Abismo (Afternoon at the Abyss), Adam Green for Adam Green's Aladdin and Mars Roberge for Scumbag.

The awards ceremony was held in Astor, Queens, New York. —ALG, GMA News
