Atom, Solenn, Kris get stars in Walk of Fame

Kapuso personalities from both television and public affairs were recognized as they were inducted into the Philippines' Walk of Fame on Tuesday.

Atom Araullo, Solenn Heussaff, and Kris Bernal were among the 19 who unveiled their stars at the Walk of Fame in Eastwood City.

The celebrities couldn't contain their excitement as they posed beside their stars.

For Kris, the recognition was an "answered prayer."

"Itong recognition na to, I consider it as an answered prayer. Ever since I started in showbiz, hindi nawawala talaga sa prayers ko na 'Lord kahit anong recognition lang'. Nasanay ako na nominated lang lagi...ito siguro yung first na masasabi kong finally may nakuha na 'kong legit," she said.

Solenn, on the other hand, said such a prestigious award was never in her radar, which is why she was in a state of disbelief when she heard the news.

"Sabi ko [sa manager ko] 'Sigurado ka ba? Baka they made a mistake'," Solenn recalled.

"I don't naman work to try to get an award or a trophy. For me, I work to try to better myself and try to learn more. If that can bring me an award then why not," she added.

Kris and Solenn were two of three inductees in the television category, while Atom joined prominent news and current affairs personalities in the Walk of Fame.

The Kapuso returnee said that he was honored to be presented with a star, but said he still has a lot of work to do.

"I try not to be overwhelmed, and I try not to take it too seriously. The award itself is a big honor and I'm very happy to be part of an industrious group of awardees," he said.

"But again after tonight, I just have to go back to work right? It gives you a little bit of extra energy but we have a lot of work to do," he added.

Other inductees include iconic Filipino band Parokya ni Edgar and singer Jake Zyrus from the music category; Empoy Marquez and Mother Lily Monteverde for the film category; Matteo Guidicelli for TV; Mely Tagasa and Joe D' Mango for radio; Director Freddie Santos for theater; Karen Davila, Anthony Taberna, and the Tulfo Brothers for news.

Recently departed actress Isabelle Granada and radio broadcaster Joe Taruc also received posthumous awards.

Amparo Robles Custodio or Chichay, Director Maning Borlaza, and Director Eddie Romero also received stars posthumously.
