Barretto sisters' feud lands in major Hong Kong newspaper

Apparently, the Barretto sisters' feud isn't just a "national issue."

On Sunday, Hong Kong's South China Morning Post's digital edition featured the Barretto sisters' feud already, bringing the quarrel to an international level.

In their "This Week In Asia" section, the Hong Kong-based news publication narrated how Marjorie and Gretchen Barretto were caught in a brawl during their father's wake while in the presence of the President.

It said that the only similarities the women shared were "their staunch support for Duterte, and their hatred for one another."

"As the spat unfolded publicly over the next few days, it emerged that the actresses and their family members were bickering over a love triangle involving a notorious gambling lord," the publication wrote.

SCMP is clearly updated with the Barretto feud. Apart from mentioning the involvement of Atong Ang, the digital edition of the paper also mentioned Marjorie's admission that Caloocan City mayor Enrico Echiverri fathered one of her children, as well as efforts of the Department of Transportation's infographic on "how to keep up with the Barretto Family issue while driving."

The SCMP report also stated that along with the controversial social media posts of the family members and their tearful media interviews, the feud has "kept the public transfixed on the saga."

In the past, the news publication also wrote about Duterte's attempt to reconcile the sisters despite his strongman persona as he leads the infamous war on drugs. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
