Maine Mendoza raises over half a million pesos, sends financial aid to over 500 families

A week after starting a donation drive for daily wage earners, Maine Mendoza announced that she has raised over half a million pesos.

In her Twitter, Maine said her team has sent financial support to 587 families, including tricycle drivers, street vendors, construction workers, among many others.

"7 days after the launch of DoNation Drive, we have accumulated a total amount of ?587,677.92. We have sent financial support to 587 families for the past 6 days thru GCash," she said.

On the donation drive's website, Maine said recipients are randomly picked through email, but she "must admit to be focusing more on professions that are greatly affected by the 'enhanced community quarantine'."

Maine thanked all the people who have sent in donations, and said her account is still open to receiving more.

"I would not made it this far if not because of everyone’s help. But it does not stop here, I shall continue sending financial assistance to as many families as I can," she wrote.
