Miss Earth 2011 Olga Alava tests positive for COVID-19

Miss Earth 2011 Olga Alava has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

On Instagram last week, the Ecuadorian beauty queen shared in Spanish, "My test came back positive...My biggest advice: Don't wait until you have serious symptoms to ask for help."

Alava assured the public that she has been getting better for the past few days. She said she has recovered her sense of taste and smell, and that she no longer showed any symptom of the disease.

The beauty queen thanked her family, her fans and God, and added, "Never lose faith that we can cope with this virus, let's not let our guard down, support as much as we can and keep taking care of ourselves.” 

As of Thursday morning, over 1.46 million people have tested positive with COVID-19 globally. 86,000 people have died due to the disease.
