How 'Descendants of the Sun' handled romantic scenes amid pandemic

Looks like we won't be seeing a kissing scene between "Big Boss" and "Beauty" once the Philippine adaptation of "Descendants of the Sun" returns on our television screens.

The show recently wrapped up its taping for fresh episodes, but the cast and crew alike had to adjust to new filming practices amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Intimate scenes are highly discouraged, so how did DOTS handle romantic moments between its two main couples?

"Sa mga kilig scenes namin, dinaan sa yakap. 'Yun na 'yung pinaka extent," said Rocco Nacino, who played Technical Sergeant Diego Ramos opposite Jasmine Curtis-Smith's Lieutenant Moira Defensor.

"Ganun pa man, ginawa ng direktor namin in a way na kung yakap man 'yan o tinginan lang, sobrang nakakakilig," he said in Cata Tibayan's report on "24 Oras."

The show's main leads, Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado, both shared a photo of the script reading session for their final scene in the series.

It's a bittersweet farewell for Captain Lucas Manalo and Dra. Maxine dela Cruz, who admirably stepped into the iconic roles originally played by Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo.

Dingdong recently won the prestigious Asian Star Prize at 15th Seoul International Drama Awards for his portrayal of Alpha team's leader.

Jennylyn and director Dominic Zapata also accepted the Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year award on behalf of the show. —MGP, GMA News
