Sandra Lemonon claims she received death threats amid pageant controversy

Sandra Lemonon has reportedly received death threats after sparking controversy in the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 pageant.

The Taguig representative who finished Top 16 in the inaugural competition shared a screenshot of a text conversation she had with Miss Manila Alexandra Abdon.

She said, “I have death threats and people telling me I’m stupid and etc… When all I want is to protect us girls and have fair treatment. Hai.”

Abdon appeared to sympathize with her fellow queen, urging her not to believe her detractors and remember she had her back.

“Wag ka maniwala sa mga yon. Most of the people hating you are a bunch of [sweetheart sticker],” Abdon wrote.

“Isa ako sa mga nagmamahal sayo plys 44 more girls. Wag ka papasira sa mga may ayaw sayo,” she added.

Lemonon shared the conversation on her Instagram stories with large text boxes saying: “This is real SISTERHOOD” and “I love you @alexandra.abdon.”

Earlier, Lemonon had fired off a series of cryptic Instagram stories during the finale of the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 pageant held in Baguio City last weekend.

"Get ready loves, tomorrow I will be announcing big news, it's time to be honest & speak facts," Lemonon wrote in one story.

"Accepting defeat graciously is one of many mark of being a queen but what you forgot to say is that REAL queens Play FAIR don't CHEAT,” she wrote in another.

Lemonon finished her stint in the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 as one of the Top 16, while Iloilo representative Rabiya Mateo was crowned the winner—Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
