Heart Evangelista says she almost gave up on showbiz: ‘There were days my insecurities would get the best of me’

Heart Evangelista has revealed that she almost gave up on her showbiz career on days her insecurities would get the best of her.

In her 2020 wrap-up video posted on Friday, the actress looked back on how she started in the industry.

“I have to admit that there were times I wanted to give it all up. There were very hard days when my insecurities would get the best of me,” she said.

“I knew I didn’t always fit in. I knew I wasn’t like everyone else and I did not even know if people liked me because I was the different one,” Heart added.

“But everytime the thought of quitting would cross my mind I’d remember the passion and drive of the teenage girl who was discovered by a talent scout in a mall and I’d pick myself up and try again.”

Heart, who has been in the industry for over 24 years now, said she still remembered the day she officially became an actress.

“One of my most memorable entries is about the day I learned that I was finally going to be on TV. I clearly remember feeling giddy, excited, and hopeful,” she recalled, sharing that she still kept her diary when she was just starting out in showbiz.

“From that moment on I knew I wanted to become successful in what I do even if I wasn’t sure what that really meant,” Heart added.

In the video, the actress also reflected on 2020, “the year that didn’t happen,” and the effects the pandemic had on her mental health. – RC, GMA News
