Kate Valdez and Migo Adecer reveal cute story of how they met before 'Starstruck'

Kate Valdez and Migo Adecer are set to bring on the kilig in "My Fantastic Pagi-ibig," an all-new rom-com series coming to GMA News TV very soon.

During a recent Zoom conference, the two Kapuso actors shared how the two of them already knew each other way before they even starred together in "Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday" last year.

"'Yung unang impression ko sa kanya, weirdo," Kate recalled, making Migo smile from the other window.

"'Yung lakad niya, 'yung dresser niya, ta's naka-hoodie pa siya, tapos may headphones. Ta's 'nung unang nakita ko siya sa casting, parang, 'Hmm ano ba 'tong weirdo na to?' Then hindi ko alam na makakasama ko na siya, na kami na 'yung nakuha talaga sa commercial," she added.

Meanwhile, it took Migo no time to figure out that Kate was a very happy and outgoing person.

"When we first met, she was too outgoing, she was so in-your-face-happy alam mo 'yun? Or kitang kitang this girl has not felt the hardships of the world yet, not yet, but at the same time, it was very refreshing to see a person who the world hasn't painted yet, still the joy in the eyes, parang gano'n," Migo said.

Despite their differences, it was actually the language barrier that made it tough for them to "break the ice."

"Actually, sa totoo lang, the only reason why I was kind of quiet kasi hindi kita maintindihan," Migo, who was Filipino-Australian, admitted.

"Oo, ikaw din naman eh, hindi kita maintindihan. Hindi kami magkaintindhihan dati and parang hanggang ngayon naman po," Kate agreed, laughing.

"Parang sinasabihan, ko siya kung may sasabihin ka, 'Please slow down kasi I can't catch up!' Sobrang bilis niyang magsalita, tas sobrang slang pa," she explained.

Kate would later find out how much Migo has improved on his Tagalog as he would later join GMA's talent search, "Starstruck."

"I'm proud of you, kasi naga-ano ka non, nagta-try ka talagang matutong magtagalog," Kate told her co-star.

"Then eventually, n'ung nag-Starstruck na tayo, dito na sa GMA. and I'm surprised na dun na po kami ulit magkikita na [I said] 'Anong ginagawa mo dito?' 'Ba't ka nandito?' ''Di mo sinabi sa'kin na magaaudition ka sa Starstruck!'" she added.

Kate Valdez and Migo Adecer just starred the hit drama "Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday" last year.
