Alden Richards, Bea Alonzo to star in a movie for the first time

Alden Richards and Bea Alonzo are set to star in an upcoming movie for the first time.

The pairing was confirmed in a report by Nelson Canlas on “24 Oras” Tuesday.

The project will be produced by three of the country’s biggest movie outfits: GMA Pictures, Viva Films, and APT Entertainment. 

Both Bea and Alden considered the film a “dream come true.”

The actor expressed how much he wanted to work in a movie with Bea, since he’s a fan of hers and her longtime on-screen partner John Lloyd Cruz. 

“Gusto ko siya sanang maka-work sa movie kasi nasubaybayan ko halos lahat ng movies nila ni John Lloyd Cruz,” said Alden. 

Likewise, the actress said she looked forward to working with Alden after watching him on “Hello, Love, Goodbye.”

“Hindi niya alam gusto ko rin talaga siyang makatrabaho. I have seen his movie with Kathryn [Bernardo] and I thought he did a very good job with the character. I wanna be able to have that chance to actually work with him and develop characters with him,” said Bea.

“Sa totoo lang, nakaka-pressure at kanina, coming here, I was so anxious. Kinakabahan talaga ako kasi ’di ko rin alam what to expect but then, right now, I feel comfortable with Alden, with the ones I just met, the bosses of these three big film outfits,” she said.

Their movie is inspired by the Japanese series “Pure Soul,” which was remade into the hit South Korean movie “A Moment to Remember” that starred Son Ye-jin and Jung Woo-sung.

“We want to give this movie an international flavor talaga, lalo na we’re having both Alden and Bea together in it, so we feel that this project is perfect talaga,” said Annette Gozon Valdez, president of GMA Films.

In the film, Alden and Bea will portray a married couple facing the struggles of early onset Alzheimer’s disease.

“Wala akong matututunan kung laging doon lang ako sa comfortable na roles, pero ngayon, after ko siyang basahin, masaya ako na mas lamang ’yung kaba kasi hindi biro ’yung role,” said Alden.

According to the report, the two actors have begun their workshops and plans are being laid out for their lock-in shooting.

“Challenge talaga gumawa ng pelikula at not just because of the cost. Any shoot right now, any production right now, is much more expensive dahil sa protocols,” said Mike Tuviera, president of APT Entertainment. 

No date has been given for the movie’s release but according to Alden, “it’s going to be worth the wait.”

“We will hold out until such time na mag-normalize na ’yung cinema operations kasi ’yung movie is meant to be seen sa big screen rather than sa small screen,” said Vincent del Rosario, president and chief operating officer of Viva Films.
