Derek Ramsay on John Lloyd Cruz: 'I'm not saying I'm better than JL'

Derek Ramsay and Ellen Adarna gave quite a tell-all interview with G3 San Pedro Monday evening and towards the nearly 90-minute long interview, G3 asked Ellen: "What are you sure about Derek that you weren't sure about with John Lloyd?"

Ellen named a few factors that's making her relationship with the Kapuso hunk work — communication, connection, timing — but ultimately, she said it was about her doing the inner work.

"My relationships before didn't work because I would shut down. When I worked on myself, that's when learned how to communicate in a healthy way. So timing din talaga itong si Derek," Ellen said.

That's when Derek interrupted. "Ellen's not saying and I'm not saying I'm better than JL or any of her exes. Or that Ellen is better than any of my exes. We met at the right time, we're meant to be. That's how love works, how life works," he said.

"If I met him five years ago, it wouldn't have worked," Ellen added.

The two recently got engaged after a quick courtship that started with a dinner in January. They confirmed their relationship in February, with Derek proposing marriage by end of March.

In the interview, Derek and Ellen said the wedding will take place this year.
