Kuya Kim considers Alden Richards among the signs he received to join GMA Network

By FRANCHESCA VIERNES,GMA News

Before deciding to join GMA Network, Kuya Kim Atienza, like the rest of us, asked for signs to help him with his decision. He was given a very clear one in the person of Alden Richards.

During an online interview with the press, the newest Kapuso admitted GMA was actually not part of his options, since there was no offer.

When offers from GMA did start coming in, Kuya Kim looked to his friends for insights and guidance.

“I was asking them, ‘What will people think if I transfer? Is it okay to transfer, to consider other options? Those [friends] said, ‘Of course, people will understand,’” he said.

As they were talking about GMA-7, a familiar face from the Kapuso network called out to him.

“While we were discussing my move to GMA-7, someone calls my name then I look. He was wearing a mask — he came from the gym upstairs. It was Alden Richards," Kuya Kim narrated.

“Sabi nung dalawang kasama ko, ‘Kim, ‘di ba sign ‘yon? Pinag-uusapan natin GMA and then bumaba si Alden.’ Sabi ko, ‘Oo nga,’” he continued.

A few minutes after that incident, Kuya Kim said his “good friend” Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Communications Angel Javier Cruz also called him.

Later that day, none other than GMA Films president Annette Gozon Valdes also came to the phone.

Receiving all these signs in just one day, Kuya Kim said God’s plans for him suddenly became clear.

“All in that same day, kinikilabutan ako,” he said. “Sabi ko, ‘Lord, yung signs na binigay mo, ang linaw.’”

Before finally making the move, Kuya Kim said he was able to have a “good, seamless” transition from his previous network. “I was able to say goodbye properly,” he said. “They took it well.”

Kuya Kim was announced to be the newest Kapuso on Monday, receiving such warm welcomes from the likes of Dingdong Dantes and Mang Tani.
