Richard Yap experienced 5 'bangungot' instances while battling COVID-19

Richard Yap's battle with COVID-19 last year was a total nightmare, but did you know the actor actually had trouble with literal "bangungot" while fighting for his life in the hospital?

Richard recalled one terrifying evening when he had a terrible nightmare not once, but five times in one night, he recalled on "Alam Mo Na!"

"Mayroong parang espirito that wanted to kill me," the actor said.

"So I would wake up literally na parang may kaaway ako, and it happened five times that night, so I couldn't sleep."

The lack of a good night's rest did not help his condition, but Richard drew strength from the thought of coming home to his family.

"Kahit na wala sila sa tabi ko at that time, because hindi pwede, sila lang ang who were really praying for me every night. They were praying the rosary," he said.

Richard Yap first opened up about his COVID-19 battle in April this year.

The actor is now fully-recovered and is currently filming a new drama, but he will always remember the many lessons he learned from his experience.

"You have to build up your strength. You have to regain [weight] by eating properly, and retain it by taking the right vitamins and slowly get back into it," Richard said,

"Let's not take life for granted while we’re here. Let's do all the good that we can, and we have to treasure the people who are with us." — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
