, the Filipina actress said the movie was the “best way to connect to a global audience by putting some of the best Filipino talents and stories together to tell an emotional and uplifting story.”

The award-winning novel revolves on the lives of two Filipino women—Amparo and Beverly—who discover hidden truths as their stories unfold after migrating to California.

In 2011, it won the grand prize at the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards.

The film adaptation will be directed by Filipino-Canadian Martin Edralin and executive produced by Anna Liza Recto, Michael Kaleda, Kevin Balhetchet, Ryo Ebe, and Abhi Rastogi.

This new project comes almost a year after Sharon had to let go of an all-Filipino cast Hollywood movie produced by Steven Spielberg due to a “false positive” COVID-19 test result. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
