Alden Richards feels proud and honored that “The World Between Us” will be the first Filipino language title on Freevee, Amazon’s free streaming video service.

In an online interview with the press on Tuesday, Alden Richards said this was a huge achievement for the GMA-7 primetime drama.

“Parang ngayon nagha-harvest ng fruit iyong ‘The World Between Us,’” he said.

“Nakakatuwa kasi based on what I heard, iyong team ng Amazon Freevee iyong lumapit sa GMA to get the title,” he added.

“Sobrang honored and proud lahat. The whole team is so proud to be recognized [by an] international platform again.”

Instead of feeling pressured, however, Alden said this milestone served as an “inspiration” for him to do better. He was also confident that Amazon’s creative team selected the show because it saw their drama’s potential.

“Ito iyong dream ko for the soap kasi sobrang pinaghirapan siya ng lahat,” he said. “Lahat ng bumubuo ng ‘The World Between Us,’ binuhos iyong lahat nila dito.”

Having gone through many hardships, including taping the series during the height of the pandemic, Alden said being part of Freevee’s lineup was a “reward.”

Starring Alden and Jasmine Curtis-Smith, “The World Between Us” follows star-crossed lovers Louis and Lia who develop feelings for each other after living as one family for years.

The show will be available in the United States beginning June 22 through the Freevee app and as a free channel on Prime Video.

Freevee, formerly known as IMDb TV, offers thousands of premium shows from around the globe such as “Black Swan,” “The Revenant,” “Gone Girl,” “Knives Out,” “Shrek,” “Deadpool,” and “Logan.”

This milestone comes after “The World Between Us” started streaming on Netflix. – RC, GMA News
