It was a rather cute and candid announcement too, as cast members greeted viewers, told them they missed them, and then in their costumes, participated the famous Netflix tudum call.

"Pulang Araw" is set during World War II. The teaser video released on New Year's Day 2024 showed fighter jets, warning sirens that quickly enthralled viewers.

It stars Barbie and Sanya as half-sisters Adelina and Teresita, who are bodabil stars. Somewhere along the way, Teresita becomes comfort woman during the Japanese occupation.

Alden plays Barbie's half-brother Eduardo who has American blood, while David portrays the reserved Japanese man named Hiroshi.

Meanwhile, Dennis Trillo is set to play a Japanese soldier Yuta Saito in the series, his first kontrabida role.

Other cast members include Rhian Ramos, Epy Quizon, Angelu De Leon, Rochelle Pangilinan, and Aidan Veneracion, among others.

"Pulang Araw" will be directed by Dominic Zapata and the story will be written by Suzette Doctolero.
