Klea Pineda plans to file complaint vs netizen who allegedly sent her rape message
Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of rape and threats of sexual violence
Klea Pineda is planning to file a complaint against a netizen who allegedly sent her a rape message.
In Athena Imperial’s report on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, the Sparkle star said that her family was the one who pushed her to file a complaint.
“Minsan lang ako magsalita sa social media. This time parang hindi ko na pinalagpas kasi sobra-sobra na ‘yon,” she said.
“‘Yung family ko nag-p-push na kailangang may gawin kaming action about it,” Klea added.
Previously, Klea called out a hateful message she received on social media.
Sharing a screenshot of the message that said, “Dapat sa ‘yo ni-re-rape eh, kaso pati rapist aayaw, asim mo e," the actress wrote in the caption that she is used to criticism "but some people are getting way too comfortable with their words."
“Nobody deserves to be on the receiving end of jokes like this,” Klea said.
Sparkle GMA Artist Center also released a statement saying that they stand with Klea "in the face of unacceptable threats.”
She last appeared in the queer film “Open Endings,” which also put out a statement in support of Klea.
"We, at Open Endings, strongly condemn the anonymous threat sent to one of our actors, Klea Pineda," it said in a statement, which Klea also reposted on Instagram.
"Threats of sexual violence are never a joke, never acceptable, and never something that should be normalized especially against members of the LGBTQIA+ community, who continue to face harassment, discrimination, and violence simply for existing openly and truthfully," it added.
"Klea deserves safety, dignity, and protection. So does every queer person."
