How Andi Eigenmann learned to ride the bus from Baler to Manila

A well-known celebrity who is from a famous showbiz clan, Andi Eigenmann chose to lead a simple life.

She left the limelight in 2017 for a more peaceful and less stressful life in Baler, Aurora, which has stretch of beaches ideal for surfing.

Andi told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last July 3, at the premiere of The Maid in London in Robinsons Movieworld, Robinsons Galleria, "Hindi po ako masaya dahil po I felt it’s about time to go and explore and find myself, and I found myself in the island. And I realized that this is where I want to be."

Though she did not entirely turn her back on showbiz, the 28-year-old actress sold most of her material possessions.

The hardest thing to let go was her van.

But she knew it would be impractical to park it in the garage of her future home in the province.

Besides, she would only go to Manila if she has a showbiz commitment. Thus, she decided to commute.

"I was like, I need to sell my car, I don’t need it anymore. It's big pa, it’s a van coz it’s traffic in Manila."

Of late, since the actress had to promote her film, she had been regularly taking the bus from Baler to Manila and vice versa.  

"I ride with people," she beamed. "And then eventually, I learned how to take the bus."

Don't the driver and passengers recognize her?

"Some people were like, ‘Artista iyan or something.’ Or like, most of the time, for example, I will ride the taxi and then the driver, di na niya iniisip na I’m Andi.

"Iniisip niya kamukha ko lang.

"And then sometimes when they think I’m a foreigner, I respond in English na lang para they’ll just think I’m a foreigner."
